Getting Started

Set up Docshark in your Sharkforce workspace, understand seats and permissions, and send your first document.

Docshark is the document layer of your Sharkforce organization. There is nothing separate to install and no extra account to create. If your team uses Sharkforce, Docshark is already in the sidebar.

What you need

  • A Sharkforce organization. Docshark runs inside it at dashboard.doc-shark.com/{your-org}/docshark.
  • A seat on the team. Only org members with Docshark permissions can send documents, build rooms, or read analytics. Seats are counted per plan. See plans.
  • A document. PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or an image. Word and Excel files are converted to PDF automatically when they are used for signing.
  • Nothing for recipients. Viewers, signers, room visitors, and form submitters never need an account. They open a link in their browser and that is the whole install.

The two sides of Docshark

SideWho uses itWhat they do
Workspace (/{org}/docshark)Your team, signed inUpload files, create links and rooms, send envelopes, read analytics, manage settings.
Public surface (/share, /sign, /verify, room links, form URLs)Recipients, no loginRead documents, sign, upload files, answer gates, verify certificates.

Everything your team does produces something on the public surface, a link, a signing session, a room, a form, and everything the public does flows back as analytics, audit events, and signed envelopes.

Your first session

Open Docshark

Sign in to your Sharkforce dashboard and open your organization. Docshark appears in the workspace navigation. First-time visits start a guided onboarding flow. Three optional demo missions (send a trackable link, send for signature, open a data room) that run on a sample document so nothing real goes out.

Upload a document

Use Upload, drag a file onto the library, or import from Google Drive. The file lands in your document library, your personal library or the shared team library, ready for links, rooms, and envelopes. Large files upload in resumable chunks, so a dropped connection does not restart the upload.

Send it

Three ways to ship the document:

  • A managed share link for read tracking. Proposal, deck, report.
  • A data room for a whole set of files behind one link. Diligence, client portals.
  • A signature envelope when you need signatures, approvals, or witnessed signing.

Permissions at a glance

Docshark checks workspace permissions per feature. The owner and admins can grant custom document roles on Starter plans and above. Signing, data-room, analytics, and sharing permissions are controlled separately per member. On Hobby, members get the standard set. See team and roles.

If you open Docshark without a seat, you see "Workspace access required. Ask an organization owner to add you to this workspace." That is a missing seat, not a broken install.
