Every document goes out as a managed link you control. Before and after it leaves.
Email attachments are fire-and-forget. A Docshark link is different: the document stays under your control after it is sent, and every open is measured.
How it works
- Upload a document to your library. Personal or team scope.
- Create a share link on it. Each link carries its own name, access rules, and viewer permissions.
- Send the link anywhere. The viewer opens a clean reading room in their browser. No account, no install.
- Every open is recorded: pages read, dwell time, device, region, return visits. Watch reads land in real time on the document and in Analytics.
Every control a link can carry

| Password | Viewers enter a passphrase (minimum 12 characters) before the document opens. |
| Email verification | Viewers confirm their email with a one-time code so you know exactly who read it. |
| Allowlist | Restrict access to specific emails or whole domains. |
| Expiry | The link stops working on a date you set. Or after 7/30/90 days with one tap. |
| View limit | The link deactivates after a set number of opens. |
| Viewer agreement (NDA) | Viewers accept a one-click agreement before entering. |
| Download / print / copy | Decide what viewers can do with the content. Per link. |
| Watermark | Stamp the viewer's identity across every page. Overlay or burned in, with intensity and density controls. |
| Screenshot protection | Blur on focus loss, block capture keys, spotlight mode, idle blur. The capture shield. |
| Disable forwarding | Only the invited address can open. Combined with email verification. |
| Viewer content toggles | Show or hide the Mako summary, extracted text, Q&A, and annotations on this link. |

Many links, one document
A single document can carry several links. One per client, one per deal, one per channel. Each link has independent rules and independent analytics, so you can tell exactly which audience engaged. Links open on dashboard.doc-shark.com by default, or on your own subdomain once a CNAME is configured.
Link states
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Opens normally; every visit is recorded. |
| Expired | Past its expiry date or view cap. Shows as Expired, restorable by editing the date. |
| Revoked | Manually killed. Visitors already inside keep their current session; every new request is refused. Reactivation restores the same URL. |
What viewers see
The link opens a focused reading room: your document rendered page by page with your branding when configured. Whatever gates you set, password, email check, NDA, appear as a short, polite step before the document. On plans that allow it, the Docshark badge can be hidden entirely.
Denied access is never silent on your side: every failed gate is logged with a timestamp and region, so you can see when someone knocked and was refused.
