Creating an Envelope

The send wizard step by step, document, recipients, fields, options, and review, plus solo-sign and paste-many.

Docshark → Signatures → New envelope opens the wizard. It walks five steps; you can leave mid-way. The envelope saves as a draft.

Step 1: Document

  • From library. Pick any uploaded document; Word and Excel files convert to PDF automatically for signing.
  • Fresh upload. Drop a file; it lands in your library too.
  • From a template. Start from a template and the fields come pre-placed.
  • Multiple documents. An envelope can carry more than one file; they sign as one package.

Name the envelope. Recipients see it in their email and signing screen.

Step 2: Recipients

Add each person with a name, email, and role:

  • Solo-sign. Flip this when you are the only signer: no recipients, the envelope opens straight to your fields.
  • Paste many. Paste a list of name <email> lines and they become recipients in one go.
  • Signing order. Set here or tune on the routing step.
  • Per-recipient verification. Require email verification or a stronger gate for specific recipients only.
  • Private message. A note to one recipient, on top of the shared message.

Recipient details stay editable only while the envelope is a draft. After sending, the recipient list locks (correct mistakes by voiding and resending, or use correction where offered).

Step 3: Fields

The field builder. Place each recipient's fields on the pages. Shortcuts here:

  • Mako placement. AI suggests where fields belong, with confidence chips per suggestion.
  • Anchor tags. Documents prepared with anchor text place fields automatically.

Step 4: Options

  • Expiry. The envelope closes on a date; recipients see an expired notice after it.
  • Reminders. Automatic nudges on a cadence you set.
  • Consumer disclosure. The ESIGN consent text signers accept before signing.
  • Watermark. Off, overlay, or burned-in on the signed output.
  • Screenshot protection. The capture shield during signing sessions.
  • Message. The email body recipients receive with their signing link.

Step 5: Review

One screen before anything goes out: document, recipients in order, fields count per recipient, options. Send delivers the first stage immediately; Save draft keeps it for later.

After sending

The envelope detail becomes your control room. Recipient states, reminders, the audit trail, and eventually the sealed PDF. See send and manage.
