Messages and what to do
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Sign in to docshark to use this server." (401) | The app has no sign-in, or its sign-in ended: you disconnected it, 90 days passed, or you left the workspace. | Reconnect from the app. In Claude, open the connector and press Connect. |
| "The workspace owner has turned Mako off, so apps can't use docshark here." (403) | Mako is off for this workspace. | Ask the workspace owner to turn Mako on, or connect to another workspace. |
| The consent page says you have no workspace to connect | None of your workspaces has Mako on, or your role has no Docshark permissions. | Ask an owner or admin for a Docshark role, or to turn Mako on. |
| "Too many changes in a short time. Wait a minute, then try again." | More than 20 changes in a minute on this connection. | Wait a minute. |
429 with Retry-After: 60 | More than 120 calls in a minute on this connection. | The app waits and retries on its own. |
| "Invalid input. …" | The app sent a value the tool does not accept. The message names the field. | Usually the app corrects itself. If not, say it differently. |
| "… failed. Try again; if it keeps failing, do it in docshark." | Something went wrong inside Docshark. | Try again. If it repeats, do it in the Docshark app and tell support. |
| "docshark could not record this action, so it did not run." | Docshark's action record was unavailable, so it refused to act. Nothing changed. | Try again in a few minutes. |
| "Envelope not found", "Room not found" | The item does not exist in this connection's workspace, or you cannot open it. | Check the workspace you connected. |
| The app does not see a tool | Your role does not open it, or your connection has that area Off or at Read. | Change the area under Settings → Connectors, or ask for the permission. |
| "The file is too large to upload from an app." | The file is over 20 MB. | Upload it in the Docshark app. |
Common questions
Does the app see my password? No. It only ever holds a Docshark token for this one connection.
Can the app reach my other workspaces? No. A connection covers one workspace. Connect again for another.
Can the app send something without me knowing? Every tool that changes something is marked as a change. Claude, ChatGPT and most editors show you the action and wait for your yes. Some apps let you allow a tool permanently; that is a choice you make in the app.
What happens if I lose my role? The connection ends the next time the app calls.
Will people outside my workspace know an app was used? No. Emails, links and envelopes look exactly as if you had made them in Docshark, because they are made by the same code.
Does it cost extra? There is no separate charge for connecting an app. Your plan's limits apply the same way they do in the app, including Mako usage where a tool relies on it.
Which apps work? Any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Claude and Claude Code are tested end to end. ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code use the same standard.
Who do I ask for help? Write to support@doc-shark.com. Include the app's name, the time and what you asked it to do.
