Mako is Docshark's built-in AI copilot. Named for the mako shark, the fastest in the ocean. It reads documents so you do not have to read them twice.
What Mako does

Where you meet it
- On documents. The summary panel: what this file is, the key terms, the notable clauses.
- In the field builder. "Suggest fields" for placement proposals.
- On envelopes. Clause review before sending.
- For viewers. An optional Q&A box on shared links: "What are the payment terms?" answered from the document's own text.
Mako for your viewers
Two link-level toggles control what recipients get: Show Mako summary puts the generated overview on the gate screen, and Viewer Q&A lets them ask the document questions. Both default on. Turn them off on links where the document should speak entirely for itself.
Usage caps
AI usage is metered per plan as a monthly credit: Hobby $0 (Mako features unavailable), Starter $5, Team $10, Business $15. See plans. Heavy analysis draws against the cap; the workspace shows current consumption.
What Mako is not
- Not legal advice. Clause flags are attention-directing, not verdicts; your counsel decides.
- Not a leaker. Viewer Q&A answers from the document's own text only; it does not expose your workspace or other documents.
- Not a replacement for reading. It is the fastest shark in the ocean, not the only one that should swim. Verify what matters.
